1. What is The Writing School?
The Writing School is an Elearning company that offers online English writing courses to individuals who would like to improve their English written communication skills.
2. How do these courses work?
Since all our courses are online courses, you will be able to access them on your computer. All you need is an internet connection. Once you pay and sign up for a course, you will receive your course login ID and password, along with a link to the course pages. You can begin accessing the course immediately after receiving the ID and password.
3. How will I benefit from your courses?
Our courses are aimed to benefit people who feel that they need to improve their English written communication skills. Our courses range from a grammar refresher to professional courses like Web Content Writing and Screenplay Writing. There is a course for everyone, whether someone wants to improve just his or her grammar, or if someone wants to learn how to write effective sales proposals and emails.
4. What is the course content like?
Each course has three essential parts: Theory, handouts and assignments. We advise all our students to first read and understand the theory, then revise with the handouts and only then attempt the assignments.
5. What happens once I complete an assignment?
Once you complete an assignment you need to submit it. This is a simple two step process, as simple as attaching a file to an email. You will then receive your assignment’s correction and feedback within two days post submission. The corrections and feedback will help you understand where you went wrong and how you can correct your mistakes.
6. Who will be my instructor?
Each course has a dedicated instructor who will be there to guide you and answer any queries or doubts. The Writing School’s instructors are qualified in all aspects of writing through training and experience.
7. How will I communicate with my instructor?
Your instructor will be available to you through a messaging facility present on your course page. This is a simple two step messaging process, in which you will message your doubts or queries to the instructor and then receive answers from him or her.
COURSES
1. How do I decide which course will benefit me the most?
The Writing School’s website has a simple interactive Course Selector (link) that will help you decide which course will benefit you the most. It takes into account whether you need to improve English writing skills for academic, professional or business reasons and provides you with a list of courses you could take to develop those specific skills.
2. How much time will I need to take The Writing School’s courses?
Different courses have different time commitments. For example: The Business Writing course needs 20 hours, but you have 30 days to complete the course at your convenience. You are welcome to finish the course in two weeks or in 30 days.
3. What if I have doubts and questions during the course?
Every course has an instructor with a one-on-one interaction with you. You will be able to post questions and concerns to the instructor through for the duration of the course. Every question will be answered within 24 hours.
4. Is it necessary to be fluent in English to take an online writing course?
No. As long as you can understand spoken English, you will not have any trouble in completing our courses.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Do I need a special computer?
No. All you need is a computer with internet access and headphones/speakers.
2. Do I need to buy any materials?
No. The online writing courses will provide you with all the material you need. Each course contains all the necessary reading material, referance material and assignments.
3. What kind of a time commitment do I need to give to your online writing courses?
Different courses have different time commitments. For example: The Business Writing course needs 20 hours, but you have 30 days to complete the course at your convenience. You are welcome to finish the course in two weeks or in 30 days.
4. What browser should I use?
For PC users we recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. For Mac users we recommend Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
5. Is there an exam at the end of the course?
No. Each course has it’s own assignments and it is enough that you complete these and learn from the feedback.
6. My grammar is weak, can I take your courses?
If your grammar is weak then we recommend that you take the Grammar Intensive course before any other course that you are interested in. The Grammar Intensive online course will help you improve your grammar and serve as a first step for the rest of our courses.
7. How much time will I have to devote to your courses each day?
Our courses do not need a daily time commitment. You have the freedom to study at your own pace and at your own convenience.
REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
1. Is there a specific enrollment date for courses at The Writing School?
There is no specific date. You can start and end the course at your own.
2. When will I receive the course login ID and password?
After you make the payment, we will need some time to process the payment.
- If you make an online payment, you will receive the login and password within six hours.
- If you make an offline payment through cheque or demand draft, we will send you the login ID and password once the payment clears (approx. 2 working days). The number of days are counted from the moment that we receive the check.
3. Is my credit card information safe?
We use the ccAvenue payment gateway. This is the most secure and most popular payment gateway in India. Therefore when you opt for an online payment we merely connect you to their fully secure payment gateway where you will enter your card information. This means that The Writing School does not see or store your information. Once your payment is processed we receive a confirmation about the transaction.
4. I don’t have a credit card. How should I pay for the course?
In addition to credit cards, our payment gateway allows you to also pay via:

- Cheque payable in Mumbai
- Demand draft
